St Aldhelm's Head
Up here the air is a fact
A wall of wind curls up over the cliff-top
Pressing yarrow and coarse grass close.
You say “Don’t stand so near the edge”
As the breeze buffets and blusters.
The tiny chapel hunches tight to the living rock
Like a barnacle, shrugging off the air tide.
Just as it has a time tide.
The wind blows on and on and on;
As it has. As it will.
